PROJECT HIGHLIGHT
Creating Reliable Year-Round Access to a Telecommunications Site
A telecommunications site is only useful if service crews can reliably reach it.
At this Waverly, New York location, Crown Castle faced an ongoing accessibility problem: the existing route to the tower site crossed a creek bed and could become inaccessible during certain times of the year.
Schumaker Construction constructed a new and improved site access road, including the installation of a culvert systemto properly carry water beneath the roadway.
The completed roadway provides a more durable route to the telecommunications facility and helps maintain access for maintenance crews, equipment and service vehicles throughout changing seasonal conditions.
Projects like this demonstrate that telecommunications construction extends well beyond the tower itself. Proper drainage, roadway construction and site accessibility are essential to keeping critical infrastructure maintainable over the long term.
